2006 Parade Pictures

On Saturday, October 28th, 2006 the Bartlett Town Center was all aglow with illuminated floats, and parade participants.  when the Bartlett Lions Club kicked off their campaign to promote the collection of Used Eyeglasses with their 2nd annual "Sight Night Light Parade",  This year's Grand Marshall was Baton Twirler Betsy Probst who awed the crowd with her illuminated baton twirling.  Betsy a resident of Bartlett has been baton twirling since she was 6 years old.  She started competing when she was 7.  Recently she has competed in the Midwest Regional Baton Twirling Competition.  She took a first place in Basic Strut and is now the Regional Strut champion for her division.
Many local businesses, organizations and individuals outdid themselves with their creativity in float design.  Russ Huebner of Bartlett turned his 1973 Ford Mustang Mach-1 into a large spider death mobile with red headlights, giant spiders and webs, Scream was the driver with skeletons accompanying him in both the front and back seat.  One of the skeletons didn't get in the car fast enough and got his foot caught in the door.  How painful it must have been!  As if that wasn't enough he had it all topped with scary music and illumination.  Even the children of the community participated in full costume and illumination.  Winner for best Illumination was Steven Schock, 7years old, who illuminated his bike and himself.  and for best Costume, Anarissa Martinez, 6 years old, her wagon was illuminated both under and on top, and her costume, hair and make-up glowed with black light earily illuminating all.  Her title was "Cheerleader gone wickedly bad".  Even the very young braved the chill in the air as Zoie Cooley of Bartlett and her cousin, Addison Janiec followed the Yellow Brick Road to Oz with their non-motorized push float.
The Bartlett Lions Club and the Bartlett Leos Club would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their help and generous donations.Abel R.V. Air Supply Heating & Cooling,  Bartlett Hills Golf Course, Bracht’s Place, Elgin Beverage Co., Euclid Beverage Co., Dupage County Animal Care & Control., Bartlett Home Depot, Bartlett Fresh Market, John Dwyer and the Bartlett Tavern & Grill, Village of Bartlett. Bartlett Public Works Dept. Bartlett Police Dept., and all of the Entrants that made this event possible.  Let's not forget the main reason for this "Spooktacular" event...EYEGLASSES!  Through generous donations the Bartlett Lions collected over 300 pair of used eyeglasses that evening!  Thank you to everyone who brought eyeglasses that evening and all the Scouts of the community who collected eyeglasses for Sight Night 2006!
